When I try to play a show, my browser crashes! Help!
Recently, a small number of members have reported difficulties playing music here on our site. It seems that on a small number of devices (including some iPads and iPhones), a show file will sometimes play for only 30 seconds or so before the entire browser crashes.
Good news: we have a fix. If you experience this problem, please contact us. We can make a quick adjustment to your account to ensure that you can get back to enjoying the music, trouble-free.
After we make this fix, the "player" widget for each show will look smaller, like this:
This player is extremely reliable, and you will be able to enjoy our music without further incident.
What if try to access your website, but I get a "verify" message that won't let me proceed?
A member once reached out to let us know that she could no longer access MillenniumOfMusic.com on her computer. When she tried, a challenge screen asked her to click a box to "verify" that she was human. She clicked the box, but the challenge reloaded and asked her to click again... and again... in an infinite loop.
Why was this happening? We use a popular third-party service (Cloudflare) to protect our website from malicious bots and other automated attacks. Unfortunately, this service is not perfect, and it had mistakenly flagged her browser as untrustworthy. Why? It turned out that her Chromebook was no longer receiving security updates. This device was probably now considered out-of-date and insecure.
The solution, for her, was to try accessing Millennium on other devices that were up-to-date. Fortunately, she was able to access the site on both her phone and another computer.
If you ever find you are unable to access our site, please try these steps in order:
- Make sure the software on your device is up-to-date; both the entire device and the web browser you are using.
- If that doesn't work, try using a different phone, tablet or computer.
- Still can't get in? Please contact us. We will be delighted to help, if we can; we want to make sure everyone has access to this precious music.
(Note: we also include these steps in our free email newsletter, which you can always continue to receive regardless of any glitches with loading our website.)
What is the closing music at the end of each show?
That selection is Cuncti simus concanentus from the Llibre Vermell ("Red Book") of Montserrat. It is a recording by the Waverly Consort directed by Michael Jaffee from their "Traveler" album (Angel/EMI CD 55559).

If I had joined at the original higher level, can I now get my monthly support level reduced to the new charge?
Yes, absolutely; but we need to actually hear from you. Many have chosen to keep their contributions at a higher level to support the program. You may write us directly about this and any other issue at the site here.
Why are some audio links, especially on older programs, not working?
This should apply to more more than a few shows, mostly from 2004. In most cases, the programs have not been preserved in active archives and we are frantically trying to find copies. There will be more holes as we work our way back chronologically, but our priority has been in both building the site and making sure we have 52 new programs per year with no repeats (this is extremely unusual for nationally-syndicated programs, but a commitment we made when the site was launched).
There have been so many reports of misuse of credit cards by various retail sites; is my card and information safe?
Absolutely—between Amazon Web Services excellent protections and our partnership with our web guardians, we have been zealous in not only making sure there is no breach, but always vigilant to make sure none occurs. All personal information is protected, and despite the fact that you represent (in my mind and heart) the greatest group of people ever, we do not sell lists or give out your name and data in any way.
Why do you say your name so much during the program?
Unfortunately, this is not my choice (or indeed my preference). When our original 90 minute program was pared down to 60 minutes to confirm to the NPR standard, we, like all national syndicated shows, were assigned a standard outcue (and incue) for the 60 second promo/news breaks at 20 and 40 minutes in the show. This was 20+ years ago.
While some are obvious (“This is PRI, Public Radio International”), all other syndicated shows must provide a weekly cue sheet with the exact time wording where these breaks occur (there is even an inaudible tone that cues automated machinery to fill in the single minute with pre-recorded material).
In any event, we were assigned, “I’m Robert Aubry Davis.”
So, please hear it not as an ego-reinforcement, but a necessary technical formality.
Is there an iPhone or Android app for Millennium of Music?
No, we do not have any apps at this time. However, this website (millenniumofmusic.com) should work well in any mobile web browser app you choose. You can log in and browse the site as usual. Because we have a "mobile theme," the pages will still look good and work well, even on the smaller screen.
You can even add our website to your home screen, so that you can launch it with an icon as if it were an app. Here's how:
To add a website to the home screen on iPhone, open Safari and tap the share button. Choose "Add to Home Screen" from the menu.
On Android, open Chrome, Edge, or Firefox and select "Add to Home Screen" or "Add to Phone" from the menu.

Can I listen to Millennium of Music on my Sonos speakers?
If you have a device such as a smartphone or tablet that you can plug into your Sonos speakers, you should be able to use them to hear our music. For more information, see this page.
