Lucidarium in Utrecht

In a happy mixture of many nations, the Swiss ensemble Lucidarium gave in concert in Utrecht featuring the first great Lowlands composer to venture into Italy, Johannes Ciconia, along with the Venetians who were working in the late 14th and early 15th centuries.

The Swiss Lute School, continued

A recent recording from the Schola Cantorum in Basel takes us to a great neglected repertoire: In the 15th century, the most popular lute music was for duos—Crawford Young and Karl-Ernst Schroeder recorded an entire disc of this forgotten music.

A Meeting in the Lowlands

The latest recording by the Binchois Consort takes us to a time when the great Duchy of Burgundy met the Royal French Court at Dufay's home cathedral at Cambrai, as Henry Tudor was preparing to cross the Channel to retake England from Richard III.
