We have followed Rinaldo Alessandrini since his first recordings and performances, and it has been quite an experience having chance to share his observations with everyone on Millennium of Music these last months.
Even though he has recorded Claudio Monteverdi’s works (including some pieces multiple times), he began a new look at the composer and his sphere of influence with the “Night” project a few years ago. This led to a mid-pandemic realization that we now yearn to be awakened "from a sleep populated by phantasms and passionate emotions ….and to bring humankind back to its reality and the possibility of living out love, joy and passion anew in the sunlight”.
It was part of what he calls his "definite confession of the love for Monteverdi, to whom after more than forty years…. I owe much of what I have learned.”
Thanks to his own generosity, and that of the naïve label, we have this new recording as the thank you when you join to support us, or when you give a gift in someone’s name. It is also available if you choose to make a Preservation Grant.
We hope with the days getting longer and the promise of Spring to come, greater good health and indeed Daylight are in store for us all.
