In 1950, the stunning discovery of a group of masses by Palestrina based on plainchant gave us a unique insight into the relationship between composers and court chapels. Happily, medieval musical great Dominique Vellard turned to this repertoire with ensembles from the Schola Cantorum in Basel--we'll hear the complete mass as well as some motets from that project.
