In 1950, the stunning discovery of a group of masses by Palestrina based on plainchant gave us a unique insight into the relationship between composers and court chapels. Happily, medieval musical great Dominique Vellard turned to this repertoire with ensembles from the Schola Cantorum in Basel—we'll hear the complete mass as well as some motets from that project.
